The Pacific Region was first identified as the Western Region in 1933. Its first regional director was R. Lillian Carpenter. Its first two chapters were both in Los Angeles: Gamma Sigma Zeta and Theta Eta Zeta. They merged in 1955 into Alpha Psi Zeta Chapter. Xi Alpha was the first undergraduate chapter in Los Angeles, located on the campus of Occidental College.
Besides Lillian, others who have served as regional directors are Mildred Boone Bradham, Lenecia Weemes, Mayme Sweeney, Mydgette Laster, Naomi Williams, Millie J. Johnston, Juanita S. Simmons, Kathleen Carter, Myrtle Ballard, Laura Farwell, Stella Bronson, Stacye Hendley Montez and Bibliana Bovery. State directors have also demonstrated leadership in the performance of their obligations to the growth of Zetadom. Past state directors include Myrtle Ballard, Bibliana Bovery, Stella Bronson, Margaret Brooks, Nui Brown, Shirley B. Bryant, Beverly Byrd, Frances Cal, Tiffany Cooper, Yvonne Daniel, Ardette Fulton, LaSonya Gibbs-Seamster, Thelma Glover, Jewel Hodgson, Zelda Hutcherson, Liz Jennings, Leslie Joseph, Brenda King, Martha McHenry, Helen Mims, Beatrice Nelson, Dorcas Scott, Kimberly Thomas, Gloria Turner and Greta L. Williams. In addition, many Pacific Region sorors have had the priviledge of serving the sorority on the national level as well. These sorors include Loreeta Earl, Sharon Weaver, Stacye Hendley Montez, Leslie Joseph, Leonia McQuillister, Stephany Addison, Gertrude Williams, Mary T. Williams, Marjorie Ellis, Laura Farwell, Beverly Byrd, Myrtle Ballard, Lillie B. Francis, Beatrice Nelson, Shonte' Fuller, Andrea Higgins, Lena Smith and Connie Carr Jones.
